What are priests? Why are they necessary? What do they do? These are essential questions to ask and answer if we are going to faithfully live as a people who are, as Peter tells us in his first letter, a royal priesthood. This may sound like a distinctive and extraordinary identity but some of us are confused by the nature of the priesthood described in the Scriptures and many more of us struggle to live into the privileges and responsibilities of this priesthood. Our prayer is that through our investigation of the witness of the Bible we can understand and embrace our identity as a people who truly are a priesthood to our great and holy God.
